Auf youtube wird ein Video gezeigt, wo Mac OS X 10.5.2 Leopard auf ein MSI Wind Netbook läuft. Laut den Bildern läuft dies sehr flüssig auf ein MSI Wind Netbook.

MSI Wind 100 Testbericht

Auf der Seite www.tomshardware.com gibt es ein sehr guten Testbericht zum Medion Akoya E1210 bzw. MSI Wind 100 (der Medion Akoya soll Baugleich mit dem MSI Wind 100 sein!).

Laut diesem Testbericht ist der MSI Wind 100 eindeutig eine sehr gute Alternative zum EEE PC 900.

Laut cyberport.de wird der MSI voraussichtlich am 31.07.08 in Deutschland ausgeliefert werden.

MSI Wind 100 & Ubuntu 8.04

Auf der Seite von msiwind.net, habe ich heute morgen einen Wiki-Artikel gefunden, wo beschrieben wird, wie Ubuntu Hardy Heron auf ein MSI Wind 100 installiert werden kann. Leider habe ich noch kein MSI Wind um dies auszuprobieren.

Use Ubuntu alternative install CD (just head to http://www.ubuntu.com and choose download, remember to click alternate check box). Then you can install Ubuntu on the wind with faster installer (no gui but text user interface).

To be on safe side, you should install only base system and after that check the network connection from bash (how to do that head to http://ubuntuguide.org).

After base system install (about 250mb) and login:

sudo su

passwd => choose good root password.

exit

logout

root => your root password.

After login (root):

apt-get update

apt-get dist-upgrade

(reboot if necessary)

Choose one of the three (installs with latest updates, if no network then it tries to acquire packets from install media):

apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

apt-get install xubuntu-desktop

after everything goes according to plan:

shutdown -r now

You should be after reboot in *buntu gui login screen.
